Lenovo K860, P700i, S880, S560 and A60+: Will the Same PC Strategy Help New Smartphone Lineup to Beat Android Market Dominators?
Worlds No.1 PC maker Lenovo has unveiled five smartphones in the country at almost all the price points ranging from Rs 6,499 to Rs 28,499 under the IdeaPhone lineup.
The company has launched these entry-level and mid-range Android smartphones including Lenovo A60+, Lenovo S880, Lenovo P700i, Lenovo K860, and Lenovo S560 in the Indian market ahead of the festive season in order to secure good sales figures.
With that being said, reportedly it has been informed that the Chinese electronics manufacturer has targeted 10% share in the smartphone market of India within two years, according to a company official statement out on Friday.
In a DNA report, Amar Babu, Managing Director, Lenovo India was quoted stating that the company is the largest player in the personal computer market in India and hopes to replicate the results in the fast growing smartphone market.
“We are replicating our PC strategy in a way, in the sense that we are offering a large variety of smartphones with more features like the turbocharged, multi-touch, and 1.4 GHz quad core processor, all at competitive price points. Besides, we are banking on our strong brand presence in India. Also, while as of now, our phones work on the Android platform, we will be coming out with a Windows phone very soon, as well. We are also looking to bring in a range of CDMA phones, depending on market demand for the same. However, we have no 4G plans as of now,” said the report.
