Verizon just hit the jackpot as LG just developed a new smartphone for them. The smartphone is named as LG Enlighten. It would be a moderate smartphone with decent specifications and running in Android. In looks, the phone is pretty cool and is a side-slider model handset. LG Enlighten will not be a GSM handset. LG is now targeting the CDMA market sector with a decent mobile phone. LG Enlighten will support 800/1900 CDMA network and 1 x EV.DO CD MA.

Side-slider handsets look good only if they are big. LG Enlighten is quite big with 114 x 58 x 15 mm dimensional measurements and weighs about 157 grams. Instead of virtual keyboard in most touchscreen handsets, Enlighten comes with a full QWERTY keyboard. It has a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen display providing a screen size of 320 x 480 pixels and features proximity sensor as well. LG Enlighten will be operating on Google's Android v2.3.4 Gingerbread Operating System. So the device obviously is pretty awesome if you take into account all those thousands of applications you can purchase from the Android market.

Enlighten has a pretty cool camera which can capture good quality images but not that cool in the video record feature. The 3.2 Megapixel camera features auto focus, Digital zoom, Geo tagging, night and macro modes, ISO control and white balance. Even though picture quality is nice, the phone can record only VGA videos of 640 x 480 resolutions. LG has always been keen on the media players while developing a handset and always makes sure that their handsets will have great audio output and good sound quality. Such is the case for the Enlighten as well.

Enlighten Music player supports various formats namely MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA, and WAV. The video players are great as well and support MPEG4, DivX, WMV, 3GP, 3G2 video formats. Besides these players, the phone also includes a YouTube player which you can use to play videos in YouTube. The internet browsing facilities are appreciable with a decent HTML browser with Flash support. Major social networking sites can be accessed from Enlighten using the integrated Social networking apps namely Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

Enlighten is S-GPS enabled and has a built in memory of 150 MB. It supports only micro SD/micro SDHC cards up to 32 GB maximum size. The phone also comes with v3.0 super fast Bluetooth, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and micro USB port facilitating USB charging.

Enlighten handset for Verizon will come in Black color and will be powered by an 800 MHz processor and charged by a 1500 mAh Li ion battery reportedly. The phone will be available probably in this month or the next and might be price in India close to Rs 10,000/-.
