After making the G2 official, LG has come up with a mid-end smartphone to make its presence felt in Asian and Latin Markets. The hotly anticipated LG G Pro Lite goes official, a decent looking mid segment Android device made for consumers residing in the emerging markets.

The device is not a sequel to LG Optimus G Pro, a 5.5-inch Full HD monster phone launched earlier this year.

LG says that they have plans in place to announce the G Pro Lite in Latin America later this month ,and in select Asian countries including China and India at some point after that.

LG G Pro Lite: 5.5 Inch Mid Range Phablet Goes Official

"With LG G Pro Lite, we are introducing a competitive device to the masses in the growing large smartphone market," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "The market for smartphones with displays over five inches will continue to grow and LG is in a great position to capture these new customers when they're ready to move up from their current phones."

The G Pro Lite has a 5.5-inch qHD display having resolution of 960 x 450 pixels. The phablet is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor powered by MediaTek chipset, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM (expandable with a microSD card).

The makers have added a 3,140mAh removable battery. Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box. The 8-mega pixel camera has Auto Focus and Led Flash. Also add a 1.3-mega pixel front facing camera.

The device measures 9.4mm in terms of thickness and weighs 161 grams. The LG G Pro Lite also houses dual stereo speakers, Dual SIM, a stylus and more features. LG has also included Knock On feature in the phone. Other additional features include: QuickMemo, QSlide, QTranslater, Pause and Resume Recording. LG is yet to reveal the retail price of G Pro Lite.

Interestingly, LG has used MediaTek chipset instead of Qualcomm powered low-end processor. In a similar fashion, Sony has used MediaTek chipset to power its mid-end Xperia C Android-based smartphone. The street is abuzz with rumors that Samsung is also planning to announce mid-end handsets powered by MediaTek chipset, probably next year.

So it's already known that LG will be coming up G Pro Lite in India sometime later this year. GizBot expect the phone to be made available around Rs 18,499. The large display phablet will compete against likes of Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 and Samsung Mega 5.8. Stay tuned to GizBot for more updates!
