LG is no stranger to Mozilla's Firefox OS. The South Korean giant had launched its first ever entry-level Firefox handset, the LG Fireweb, in Brazil last year.

Now, the company has again made it to the news with the leak of the first images of its Firefox OS based smartphone dubbed - LG L25. If rumors are to be believed, the G3 maker might unveil a new smartphone powered by Firefox OS.

According to @Upleaks, the LG L25 will be available for Japanese carrier KDDI. Unfortunately, LG has no plans to launch the device other than the Japanese market.

The report also leaked a sketch of the device and a couple of screenshots depicting its user interface (UI). The design of the phone is quite different from LG's own Fireweb phone, which went on sale in Brazil last year. Meanwhile, LG L25 hardware specifications remain unknown, and the smartphone would likely be rolled out as a limited offering.

As of now, there is no official word on the release date of the LG L25, but the smartphone is rumored to be launched at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2015.

Last week GizBot had exclusively reported that the second-generation of Firefox OS-based devices might get launched in the first half of 2015.

GizBot also reported that Intex, one of the fastest growing smartphone players in India is currently in the process of coming out with its second handset running on Firefox OS. Also, the smartphone would feature a 4.5-inch display, and it is expected to be priced around Rs. 5,000. Intex plans to launch the handset in April 2015.

Currently, Intex, Spice and Alcatel are selling Firefox OS-based smartphones in India. The cheapest Firefox-powered handset costs Rs. 1,900.
