LG Launches Wine Smart Flip Phone With Android KitKat, LTE Support in Korea
While the smartphone technology is moving forward in a fast pace, it appears that some of the mobile phone manufacturers are heading backwards to bring new phones with a touch of old design language. Moreover, its the flip-phone that we are talking about that has started making rounds again.
Just a couple of months ago Samsung introduced its latest phone with a clamshell design and now it appears that LG is also following the same trick, to allure the nostalgic customers.

Called Wine Smart, the entry-level clamshell smartphone from LG comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen display offering a resolution of 320 x 480pixels. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat).

It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. It comes with Kakao Talk messenger with a dedicated launch key for the app, T9 keypad and high-power 1W speaker that would the best output even in noisy audio environment. It is 16.9mm thick and weighs 140.8 grams.
The Wine Smart has 4G LTE connectivity and comes the usual set of connectivity features such as WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.
It houses 4GB of internal storage with expansion slot and packs a 1700 mAh battery.
As far as the features are concerned, there is a "Safe Keeper" function that will automatically send out an emergency notification, along with necessary information like the phone's location, to pre-defined numbers in case the smartphone is unused for a set period of time, which could be an indication that something is not right.
It has a tiny LED notification light on the outside that would offer notification for missed calls, text messages and more.
There is also a dedicated physical button for launching Kakao Talk, presumably because everyone in Korea, even older people, know how to use the instant messaging service.
The LG Wine Smart comes in black and white colors and would go on sale in South Korea starting September 26th. It is not sure whether the new flip phone from LG will make it up to other markets and also the pricing or availability of the devices are not revealed at the moment.
