LG Nitro HD to get ICS update: HTC Desire not lucky enough to get it
There is good news for LG Nitro HD smartphone users and at the same time there is disappointing news for HTC Desire HD users. Good news is the availability of Android 4.0 ICS update for LG Nitro HD users. With this update, LG Nitro HD users will be having an improved user-interface and customization options with ICS. In addition to this, LG Nitro HD users will also receive LG’s new and advanced generation Optimus 3.0 User Interface that facilitates unlocking of the android phone by screen swiping.
HTC Desire HD users will not be able to enjoy the fruits of such an update. The main reason given by the company for not availing the update is the possibility of losing personal data during the update process. The risk of data loss is high especially since the larger size of Android ICS might demand repartitioning of the device’s internal space. Therefore HTC Desire HD will have to be satisfied with Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system for the time being.
The new ICS update is designed to simplify common actions. The typeface will also be optimized for high-resolution screens for scaling up its readability. Important changes that users can expect with this update include the addition of new lock screen actions that will allow users to go directly towards a specific application instead of unlocking the home screen. LG has already started releasing ‘Over the Air’ update for its LG Nitro HD smartphone.
Other key features that Android ICS will bring up on LG Nitro HD include the addition of a new Gallery application with Photo Editor making it easier to manage, showcase and share videos or photos conveniently. Apps and shortcuts can be grouped by dragging using an improved home screen folder and favourite’s tray.
Users can also enjoy faster text input using the updated keyboard in Android ICS. Additional features that arrive with this latest update include improved multi-tasking capabilities and Face Unlock feature. Android 4.0 ICS application also allows users to monitor their data usage with ease on their device. For easier organization, a ‘Download’ category is also added on the device menu.
