LG India has finally started rolling out Android 4.0 update for LG Optimus 2X users in India. Reportedly, LG Optimus 2X (LGP990) is finally getting the ICS upgrade which had already been rolled out to Korean and European users. Korean users got the upgrade in August of last year while European users obtained it early in December.

LG Optimus 2X hit the Indian markets last April and had on board Android 2.2 (Froyo). This was later upgraded to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) this November. LG had announced that the company would upgrade Optimus 2X to Android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) very soon. It seems as though LG has kept its words.

The ICS update carries along with it a lot of attractive new features. It brings on board Optimus UI 3.0 along with a new lock screen. The UI is equipped with a lot of enhanced features such as Quick Memo, Voice Shutter etc. Quick Memo allows users to make notes quickly with their fingers and easily share it on social networking websites.

Other features of the update are Face Unlock, faster and better browser, and new camera UI. A lot of performance improvements also come along with the upgrade. This is the first smartphone in the world to have dual core that will receive all the goodness of an ICS update.

The firmware version of the ICS update in India has the number V30b. It was V30a in the firmware rolled out in Europe earlier in December. The entire update takes a space of 686 MB and is available on Optimus 2X via LG Mobile Support Tool on your computer or Over the Air (OTA).
