Korean phone maker LG is once again in the spotlight, as the details regarding its highly anticipated handset LG Optimus G got leaked again.
Last week, the rumored specifications of the handset got leaked online, when Qualcomm spilled the beans revealing that it is working with LG on a super-phone. Following this, LG hosted a teaser website along with a video for the Optimus G - equipped with the second generation quad core processor, Snapdragon S4 Pro codenamed APQ8064.
According to a recent report by AndroidMX, the website has posted a few pictures of the upcoming LG smartphone – Optimus G labeled LG-E973. The pictures not only reveal the design of the handset but also its specifications – most of them coinciding with the earlier reports.
As per the report, Optimus G will come packed up with a 4.7 inch HD display, 1.5GHz quad core Snapdragon S4 processor supporting LTE connectivity, Adreno 320 GPU, 13MP camera and 2GB RAM. However, the display resolution is listed as 1280 x 768 pixels in the image, instead of 1280 x 720 – as per the earlier reports. Apparently, Optimus G runs on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
Coming to the design and aesthetics, the photos clearly show a row of three capacitive keys below the display for menu, home and back functions, hinting that LG is not going to follow the trend of on-screen buttons as in Galaxy Nexus.
However, neither the hardware nor the software is finalized by the manufacturer, leaving space for possibilities of changes in the final product.
Moreover, according to the report, LG is expected to uncover the Optimus G E973 at the IFA 2012 event in the coming week alongside Optimus Vu.
Now, the question is, will the flagship smartphone of LG outsmart the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, scheduled for launch at the same IFA 2012 event.
Going by the earlier rumors, the Galaxy Note 2 will sport a 5.5 inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The handset will be equipped with a 1.5GHz Samsung Exynos quad core processor and an 8 MP camera.
At the same time, Galaxy Note 2 is expected to run on Android 4.0 ICS OS out of the box, although, the Jelly Bean update for the same is in the pipeline.
