Obviously, it is true that Samsung and Apple are now the biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world. But, the sales of LG handsets are also ramping up and the company is predicted to be one of the best smartphone manufacturers similar to Samsung.
Usually, LG follows a strategy of announcing the launch of its new devices via its official website, prior to announcing the release of the handsets. However, this time the Optimus L5 2 has been made available on e-commerce sites Infibeam and Flipkart at a price of Rs 11,499.
Specwise, LG Optimus L5 2 comes with a 4.0-inch WVGA display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 1GHz processor, 5MP rear camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth and a 1,700mAh battery. Further, Optimus L5 2 runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS and has dual SIM support.
It has to be noted that this is the first time that the South Korean manufacturer has forayed into the budget smartphone segment with the launch of Jelly Bean handsets, while that particular market segment is also haunted by a plethora of India based vendors. So far, the Indian smartphone space witnessed many dual SIM Jelly Bean handsets from companies including Micromax, Byond, Karbonn, Lava and more.
Hence, by launching a Jelly Bean smartphone, LG has entered a direct rivalry with the some of the best desi handsets who have also launched similar handsets. Below is a slideshow revealing the dual SIM Jelly Bean challengers of the LG handset.
In January, Karbonn also launched a Jelly Bean smartphone - A24 with a price tag of Rs 11,000. The A24 sports a 4.5 inch qHD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, 1.2GHz dual core processor, 8MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a monstrous 2,000 battery of unknown backup.
