LG to bring in 12 smartphones in India in 2012


LG is planning to launch a series of low, medium and high end Android smartphones in India this year. The LG’s move to such a kind of bulk release is mainly focused to enhance its role in the smartphone industry. The expected LG smartphone series include LG Optimus 4X HD, LG Optimus VU, LG Optimus 3D Max, LG Optimus L3, LG Optimus L5 and LG Optimus L7.

It is supposed that the launch would start with the Optimus 4X HD smartphone. It will run on Android 4.0 platform and will house a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor. It will also feature 1 GB RAM capacity and a 16 GB on board storage. The main notable feature of Optimus 4X HD will be its 8.1 megapixel rear camera with LED flash. A 1.3 megapixel front camera for video calling and video chats is also included.

After Optimus 4X HD release, LG is expected to launch LG Optimus VU, LG Optimus 3D Max and yet another three L series smartphones including Optimus L3, L5 and L7. Optimus L3 will have a 3.2 inch display screen along with 3 megapixel camera and 800 MHz processor. L5 will come with a 4 inch display whereas L7 is planned to have a 4.3 inch display. All the L series handsets will be launched in two colour models including white and black.

LG Optimus VU will have a 5 inch display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution and will run on Android platform. Moreover, it will have an aspect ratio of 4:3. This aspect ratio is mainly intended to improve its usability. It will also have an 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 front megapixel camera. Various other features which are expected to be in LG Optimus VU are Android Beam, Bluetooth 3.0, and WiFi Direct for fast file transfer, 1.5 GHz processor and a fast graphic engine. Apart from all these a 32 GB onboard storage will also be provided along with a standard 2080mAh battery.

Yet another smartphone which is expected to launch is the LG Optimus 3D Max. It will be an upgraded version of Optimus 3D smartphone. It will be more slimmer than the Optimus 3D and will come with a faster 1.2 GHz dual core CPU, 4.3 inch LCD display, 1 GB of RAM, 8MP camera and 16 GB inbuilt memory. The main highlight of this handset is its 3D capability. It allows the users to edit 3D images and videos.

The other series smartphones have not yet been unveiled. However, the officials have revealed that these new handsets would fall in the price range of about Rs. 7,000/- to Rs 35,000/-. The LG customers can expect these new series of smartphone to reach the mobile market by May.
