Music Show: Maxx MX349 And Karbonn Boombox 2
Let us compare 2 phones, which are music phones launched by these two companies. As their advertisement suggests India is music crazy country, hence their strategy to target this specific music savvy consumer segment is a bright idea. Maxx has come out with a model named Maxx MX349 and Karbonn had earlier launched the much awaited Karbonn Boombox 2.
Maxx MX349 and Karbonn Boombox 2 are both dual SIM phones with TFT screen. Both the phones are of the Bar form factor type. They are both light weight and can fit into any pocket easily. Karbonn Boombox 2 has around 200 MB of internal memory and an expandable memory of up to 4GB. Maxx MX349 phone has around 64 MB of internal memory and it is also expandable up to 4 GB.
On the grounds of music, Maxx MX349 phone is a polyphonic handset. It features FM radio with recording facility. It comes with a MP3 player, a 30*20mm loud speaker, giving a considerable loud noise and a standard 3.5mm audio output. On the contrary Karbonn Boombox 2 comes with FM radio but no recording feature. The MP3 player supports almost all the major music formats. The phone comes with a 2.5mm audio jack and a very loud speaker. It is also a polyphonic tone supported phone.
Both phones are released with pretty ordinary cameras. Karbonn Boombox 2 comes out with a 2 MP camera. It also helps in video recording and can be played with an inbuilt video player. Maxx MX349 is launched with 1.3 camera with digital zoom capability. This phone can record videos too. Max phone has inbuilt games but does not support java apps, where as Boombox model supports java games.
Both the phones match on the grounds of connectivity. Both the phones have Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Both the phones do have GPRS capability too for enabling context aware location based services. Karbonn and the Max phones however do not have the technologies like 3G, EDGE or WIFI. Both the phone has SMS and MMS facility but do not have the facility for email.
Boombox 2 is priced at Rs 2600, higher than Maxx MX349, which retails for around Rs 1950. Looking at the specifications and price, Boombox 2 appears to have a thin edge over Max MX349 because of its advanced memory capability and support for Java applications and games.
