Although Micromax is one of the leading consumer electronics company in India and the 10th largest mobile phone vendor in the world, these milestones haven't been attained in a single day, but rather over a course of period with budget-friendly releases.

Keeping up with the trend, Micromax has now officially unveiled the new Micromax Canvas Doodle 3 after the phablet was teased last Saturday. The new handset is now set to arrive at an affordable price of Rs. 8,500 and will be available in stores April 25 onwards.

"We will be aiming to develop products & services which not only enhance & upgrade the life of the consumers but also empower them with the latest technological innovations becoming an extension of their lifestyle," he further explained.

It seems like the specifications for the device are also in tune with what we saw via the previous leak for the handset. The Canvas Doodle 3 sports a 6-inch FWVGA (854×480 pixels) display and is powered by a MediaTek MT6572 dual-core processor that's clocked at 1.3GHz.

The device's processor is paired with 512MB of RAM, with 4GB of internal storage included that can be expanded using a microSD card.

The phablet also features a 5-megapixel Auto Focus primary rear camera, with a VGA front facing camera and a 2,500mAh battery to compliment it.

Connectivity options remain the same with the device coming with dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0. On the software front, it runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

But while all that sounds impressive to the core for users not looking to shell out more than 10k while still looking to enjoy some of the Android-based premium features, how different is it from the previously released Micromax Canvas Doodle 2? Let's take a closer look at the top 5 differences between the devices.

Compared to the previous Canvas Doodle handset, the new Micromax Canvas Doodle 3 is basically a phablet device, and hence much bigger in size.

So as far as numbers are concerned, while the previous Canvas Doodle 2 offered a 5.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, its Canvas Doodle 3 counterpart comes with a bigger 6-inch FWVGA (854×480 pixels) display.

This is where the new Canvas Doodle 3 comes short compared to the the previous Canvas Doodle 2. Micromax decided to cut cost effectively with this new release and hence it decreased the camera module somewhat.

While the new Canvas Doodle 3 comes sporting a 5 MP Auto Focus primary rear camera, with a 0.3 MP VGA front facing camera, the new Canvas Doodle 2 offered a greater 12 MP camera with Auto Focus and a dual-LED flash, with a greater 5 MP camera up front.

The previous Canvas Doodle 2 sported a greater and more powerful quad core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor with Mediatek MT6589 chipset. The new Canvas Doodle 3, on the other hand, comes with a MediaTek MT6572 dual-core processor thats clocked at 1.3GHz.

While the Canvas Doodle came around with 16 GB of internal memory offering, the device lost a bit of its charm since it didn't support an external memory card slot so as to further increase the memory.

However, Micromax has learnt about how people like to stuff their phones with songs, videos, images and games and has hence offered the new Canvas Doodle 3 with an external memory slot that can be expanded up to 32 GB.

The new battery that comes with the Canvas Doodle 3 is a bit less than what Micromax offered with Canvas Doodle 2. While the Canvas Doodle came bearing a 2600 mAh battery, its new Doodle 3 counterpart offeres a slighlty lesser 2500 mAh battery.
