A fresh new month has kicked off, but the controversy surrounding the Micromax Canvas HD still persist. There are some chaos going on all over the tech media regarding the quad core phablet on the auspicious occasion of April Fools' Day.

Earlier this day, FoneArena came up with a report stating that Canvas HD units have hit the retail stores across India, while, the folks over there found the brand new phone in few retail shops in Chennai. The report claimed that the new stocks seem to have a fresh look with a different packaging and new price tag of Rs 14,499.

But now, Gizbot has some new twist on the report. Gizbot tried contacting an inside source of Micromax and learnt that the Canvas HD retail availability has debuted in the country and that the phablet is available in all the major retail stores including Croma and The Mobile Store.

However, on contacting the stores, one of the The Mobile Store retailer in Bangalore responded that the Canvas HD is not available with them and that the stocks might reach the stores next week. At the same time, a Croma store in Bangalore has also confirmed that the Canvas HD is yet to be made available.

Finally, the mystery of the Canvas HD availability seems to continue without a clear picture. Does the Canvas HD really exist in any retail store? Or is it another April Fools' Day prank?

So whatever may be the case, it seems like Micromax is having all the fun just like Google, in playing pranks with all the dedicated customer base this April Fool's Day. All, that can be said is that Gizbot is still trying to contact other stores in India to find out where all the Canvas HD units have been made available in the country apart from Chennai.

Anyways, speaking of specs, Canvas HD boasts a 5 inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.2GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, 8MP rear camera, VGA front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS and a 2,100 mAh battery.
