Micromax Canvas Magnus A117: 12MP Camera Smartphone Now Official At Rs 14,999

After the super successful debut of Canvas Turbo A250, Micromax has added another smartphone into its growing portfolio. India's second largest smartphone vendor is aggressively promoting its newest lineup to build big lead over both domestic and international vendors.

Few days back, GizBot informed that the Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 smartphone with a quad-core processor and 12MP camera was spotted on select online stores at Rs.14,999.

Today, Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 is officially available on company's online store at Rs. 14,999. The new mid-range Canvas phone will compete against the liks of handsets from Spice and Xolo. The device should be compared with the ever popular Canvas HD A116, which is currently available at a price of Rs.13,999.

The Canvas Magnus A117 appears to be inspired by company's previous successful handset, the Canvas HD. If one compares the Canvas Magnus A117 with Canvas HD A116, the only big difference that makes them different is the rear-facing camera. The Canvas Magnus A117 features a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, whereas the Canvas HD comes with an 8-megapixel camera.

Notably, Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 could be the inspiration behind the Canvas Magnus A117, as both the devices appear to be same. Well, the Canvas Doodle 2 is too big to handle. It features a gigantic 5.7-inch HD display.

Coming back to the internal hardware, the Canvas Magnus A117 packs a 5-inch IPS display having a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The phone comes with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, backed by MT6589T (MediaTek) chipset and 1GB of RAM. The internal memory stands at 4GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box.

There's a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash. Also add a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear-camera supports HD video recording.

The Canvas Magnus A117 comes pre-loaded with an array of apps. Some of the highlighted apps include: M! Live, M! Security, M! Unlock, Games (Fruit Devil , Dark Man, Jelly jumper), Kingsoft, Spuul, Hike, Game Hub, Opera Mini, Look Away, FOTA, BBM Link.

Other connectivity options include: 3G, 2G (EDGE), Bluetooth 4.0, Dual SIM, A-GPS, FM Radio, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, amongst other features. The device also features smart gesture options: Proximity sensor, Light sensor, Gravity sensor, and Motion sensor. The makers have added a 2000mAh battery.
