The information comes from the Micromax-bound leakster @MMXNewscaster whose tweet says that the so called Splash (unconfirmed) would come with an IP67 certification which means it would be waterproof. Moreover, the leakster also precisely writes that the smartphone can atleast resist 1 meter deep water for up to 30 minutes and it is also said to be a dust-proof handset. The Twitter user has also posted an image of the device which you can see above. Obviously, it is an Android device.

Micromax has already forayed into the Russian market and has released a ton of smartphones in the Indian market since January. Thus if the company is planning out to explore new technologies, it could in fact, give Samsung and other players in the Indian market a hard-run for their money. With this particular Splash smartphone, Sony's Xperia range of water-proof smartphones will surely be in a jeopardy.
The sensible price tag the company attaches to its products has always been a great advantage. Thus if it maintains the similar mid-range cost with this particular device, it mightas well make a huge difference in the smartphone market.
Moreover, in future Micromax might also take an initiative to come up with the devices with AMOLED displays and also powered by the latest chipsets.
