Micromax Superfone Pixel A90 vs Samsung Galaxy S Duos: Who Will Survive the Dual-SIM War?
Indian smartphone market is mostly filled with a wide range of budget smartphones. Specially this year, the global smartphone market has witnessed a slew of launches in the dual-SIM category by major vendors in India and abroad.
Consequently, two more smartphones have been added to this huge list – the names are Micromax Superfone Pixel A90 and Samsung Galaxy S Duos.
Obviously, both the handsets look bold and beautiful and are packed with decent specs to rival against each other, hence here Gizbot has come up with a neck and neck comparison to find out how they will stack against each other.
Display & Dimension: Micromax Pixel A90 carries a dimension of 125 x 65 x 10.6 mm, whereas Galaxy S Duos carries a slightly slim dimension of 121.5 x 63.1 x 10.5 mm. Moreover, Galaxy S Duos will weigh around 120 grams, however, the weight of Pixel A90 has not been disclosed by the company.
Talking about the display, the Superfone A90 Pixel sports a 4.3 inch AMOLED multi-touch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and pixel density of 217 ppi accompanied by a glossy form factor.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S Duos is said to be very similar to Galaxy S3 and houses a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and a pixel density of 233 ppi.
Analysts are also predicting Galaxy S Duos to be the dual SIM version of Galaxy S3.
Operating System: In this section, both the smartphones run on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system so they will be offering similar skin and touch and Swipe features.
Processor: On the processor front, Superfone A90 Pixel is equipped with a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM while the Galaxy S Duos is equipped with a 1GHz Cortex A5 single-core processor and 768 MB RAM.
Camera: Superfone A90 Pixel has an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP front camera, for video calling. The camera is capable of capturing high quality images and videos with amazing details.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S Duos has the same 5MP rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and geo-tagging features and a secondary VGA front camera.
Memory: Superfone A90 Pixel has a lesser 512 MB internal memory while Galaxy S Duos has an internal memory of 4GB. However, both the smartphones have a micro SD card slot, which support expandable memory of up to 32GB.
Connectivity: When it comes to the connectivity front, Superfone A90 Pixel comes packed with features like 3G, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi whereas the Galaxy S Duos comes with features like HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP and micro USB 2.0.
Battery: Superfone A90 Pixel is powered by a 1,600 mAh Li-ion battery which offers 5 hours talktime and 174 hours standby time while the Samsung Galaxy S Duos will come loaded with a 1,500 Li-ion battery.
Price: Galaxy S Duos pricing and availability has not been revealed by the company, however, tech experts are predicting the handset as a wallet friendly device to give a direct competition to the other Android budget savvy smartphones.
When it comes to Micromax handset, the homegrown manufacturer released three smartphones simultaneously – Micromax Superfone A84 Elite, Superfone Pixel A90 and Canvas A100. Of these handsets, the Micromax A90 Pixel is released at a price of Rs 12,999 available at major online and retail stores.
Verdict
Both, Galaxy S Duos and Superfone A90 are dual SIM medium range Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphones with decent specs. However, Micromax Superfone A90 has a new voice assistant feature, dubbed by the name of Aisha will let the software enthusiasts enjoy Apple Siri-like features in a mid-range smartphone.
However, as a dual-SIM phone, Galaxy S Duos will come with a unique ‘DualSIM Always on’ feature, which will offer users to receive calls on one SIM number while taking a call from the other, ensuring that the owners of the latest handset can manage both personal and work commitments without missing a call. Hence, the later is worth waiting for, however if you are impatient to buy a new smartphone they you can head to the nearest mobile store and grab a Micromax Superfone Pixel A90.
Moreover, the Micromax A90 is already available in the market, but Samsung Galaxy S Duos is still awaiting its release in the country.
