Microsoft announced the Lumia Denim update back in September during IFA 2014. During the launch, Microsoft informed that Lumia Denim was the latest firmware for Lumia handsets and it will bring a handful of new features including passive-listening Cortana, 4K video, Rich Capture and more.
However, the main aim to launch the Lumia Denim update was to bring a handful of new features to the Lumia Camera application on Lumia handsets. By far, Camera speed was the biggest improvement brought on by Lumia Denim, with between shot times of milliseconds.
But since then, the Redmond-based tech giant did not share any information on the release date of the Denim update, until today. Yes, Microsoft has confirmed via the company website FAQ's section that the company will enhance the camera options and bring the Lumia Camera 5 app in the next OTA update.
"Lumia 830, 930, 1520 and Icon will automatically get the new Lumia Camera 5 application with the Lumia Denim software update. Lumia Camera Classic represents the existing camera (formerly known as Nokia Camera, now Lumia Camera 4). This application lets you revert back to the predecessor version. Go to Store to download and install."
Apart from the Lumia Camera 5 apps, Lumia Classic Camera apps also will be available for the users to download, which seems to be a safe bet from Microsoft.
Meanwhile, a report from WindowsblogItalia raised a false alarm that the Lumia Denim update has already reached the Lumia 830 users. However, this wasn't true as few confirmed reports stated that it will not reach the users until 2015 Q1.
As of now the details are bit sketchy, but we are expecting further details in upcoming days.
