A recent report suggested that Microsoft was readying a smartphone that would be marketed as a "selfie phone." To be called as Lumia 730, the upcoming mid-range selfie smartphone has been leaked several times in the past few weeks.
In fact, last month the Redmond-based company started teasing the soon-to-be-launched smartphone on the official social platforms including Facebook, Twitter and now Microsoft has posted a new teaser that confirms the arrival of the much touted - Lumia 730 this month. Interestingly, the Redmond-based giant will be offering a live stream of the event, beginning at 10 a.m. CET on September 4.
Although Microsoft did not mention the Lumia 730 anywhere in the teased image, it is evident from the tagline - #MoreLumia - that the company's first ever selfie smartphone will take center stage on September 4.
Nokia Lumia 730/735 - What to expect?
With selfies becoming more popular among youth, Microsoft aims to launch the Lumia 730/735 with a powerful front camera. Images of both Lumia 730 and Lumia 735 have been leaked on the Chinese website, Baidu.
The two handsets show similar plastic made design. Also, the Lumia 730 packs dual-SIM capability, while the Lumia 735 has LTE connectivity. It is likely that the Lumia 730 will incorporate a better front-facing camera and new software designed around to allow us take better selfies.
If reports are anything to go by, the new selfie-centric camera phone would feature a 4.7-inch ClearBlack display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory , a microSD slot, an 8MP rear camera a 5MP front-facing wide-angle camera , 3G/2G/4G, Wi-Fi, FM Radio, Bluetooth and more. The Lumia 730 will run the latest Windows Phone 8.1 mobile OS.
Nokia Lumia 730 Incoming - More Evidence
Last month Windows Phone chief Joe Belfiore posted a selfie on his weibo account. Since then it is being said that Belfiore had taken a selfie using the upcoming Lumia 730 smartphone.
Microsoft is also expected to unveil the Lumia 830 alongside the Lumia 730 at this year's IFA 2014 in Berlin. The Lumia 830 is speculated to be a high-end device.
Other than Microsoft, HTC is likely to launch a selfie-centered phone later this week. Dubbed as ‘HTC Eye', it will reportedly get launch in the U.S. sometime in Q4 2014.
