Motorola Defy Plus and HTC Sensation XL

Motorola and HTC are two of the companies who are in the fore front when it comes to smart phones. They have been introducing newer models into the market and these models are very high in spec list as well as functionality. Motorola Defy Plus and HTC Sensation XL are the recently added models to the respective companies’ product line up.

Both the devices are made in a block type form factor. HTC Sensation XL has dimensions of 70.7 mm x 132.5 mm x 9.9 mm (W x H x D) and it weighs in at about 163 grams. On the other hand Motorola Defy Plus has dimensions of 59 mm x 107 mm x 13.4 mm (W x H x D) and weighs about 118 grams. So HTC is a bit on the bulkier side. But being bulky does not mean that the device is not compact, HTC is sufficiently light and small that you can carry it around very easily.

The display in HTC Sensation XL is of 4.7 inches and compared to Motorola it is bigger in size. Motorola Defy Plus features a 3.7 inch display. HTC has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and packs in about 16.8 million colors. It is of LCD touch screen type. Motorola has a screen resolution of 484 x 854 pixels and has 16.8 million colors too. Here the display is TFT capacitive touch screen type. Both the phones pack in good resolution but HTC has a slight advantage over the other since it sports a bit bigger display.

HTC Sensation XL has an 8 mega pixel camera that can be used to take images with up to 3264 x 2448 pixel resolutions. The camera can record videos with about 720 p resolution. HTC has a secondary camera too and its resolution is about 1280 x1024 pixels. The main camera can be used for taking regular photographs as well as record videos and the secondary camera can be used to make video calls and take self portraits. Motorola Defy Plus has only one camera and it has a resolution of 5 mega pixels and can take pictures of up to 2592 x 1944 pixel resolution.

Motorola Defy Plus and HTC Sensation XL are GSM based devices and supports many different frequencies. They both support 3G connectivity too. HTC Sensation XL has a Qualcomm MSM 8255 processor that works with a clock speed of about 1.5GHz. On the other hand the processor in Motorola Defy Plus it is TI OMAP 3620 with a clock speed of 1 GHz.

HTC packs in 768MB of system memory and has an internal storage space of about 16GB. Motorola has 512MB of RAM and an internal memory of about 2GB.But the limitation in internal memory in Motorola can be overcome by adding an external memory card of microSD type. 2GB memory card is included in the sales package and the external memory can be increased to about 32GB.

Both the phones have good battery back up, HTC is powered by a 1600mAh battery of lithium ion type and has a stand by time of 295 hours and talk time of 8 hours where as Motorola’s battery is powered by Lithium polymer battery of 1700mAh capacity and can provide the phone with 384 hours of stand by time and 7 hours of talk time.

Motorola Defy Plus and HTC Sensation XL are powerful Android based phones and have features that can make it very difficult for a buyer to choose among the two. HTC Sensation XL price in India is not yet known but is assumed that it will be priced at close to Rs.30, 000. Where as, the price of Motorola Defy Plus is expected to be half as costly as the other one.
