Motorola has taken the Smartphone segment in India to newer heights. They have around 10 different Smartphone"s in the Indian market with plenty more waiting for a chance to enter the ever growing and demanding Indian mobile market. They have priced their Smartphone"s aggressively and have offered stiff competition to Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and HTC. The company is hoping to achieve 30% of the Smartphone market by the year 2015. And looking by the flow of things, the brand might achieve that target seamlessly and without much difficulty.

Today we take a closer look at 2 of Motorola"s smartphone"s that are doing the rounds in the industry. Both are siblings of the same Droid series of Smartphone"s. The models are christened as Motorola Droid 2 and Motorola Droid 3.

The phones are designed in an elegant and classy manner and come equipped with the latest in entertainment and business tools you would normally expect form a top of the line Smartphone.

Let us get down to the specs now. The phones are both touch screen capable and have built in sliding QWERTY keypads. The size of the display screen is different though as the Droid 2 has a smaller 3.7 inches compared to the 4.0 inches of the Droid 3. The latter thus scores better on the visual experience front. The interfaces on both the phones are easy to use and accesses to pivotal applications and functions are very easy.

On comparison we see that both Motorola Droid 2 and Motorola Droid 3 have powerful dual core processors and are based on the Android Operating Platform but Motorola Droid 3 runs on the Android Gingerbread version as compared to the older Froyo version on Motorola Droid 2.

The phones have the best in class multimedia specs and features and boasts of support for a wide variety of multimedia formats. They have audio and video playback and recording software that is capable of providing playback in a wide variety of formats including HD.

The phones have a powerful camera that helps in clicking high quality pictures as well as quality videos. But Droid 3 has an 8 mega pixel camera with video recording as compared to the 5 mega pixel camera of Droid 2 that provides 720p recording.

Both the phones are equipped with the latest connectivity and internet technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and high speed 3G internet access. The phones have good internal memory but Droid 3 boasts of a higher 16 GB of internal memory as compared to the 8 GB of Motorola Droid 2. Both the models can be expanded to 32 GB via a Micro SD expansion slot.

Motorola Droid 2 is priced at Rs 35000 whereas the Droid 3 will cost you around Rs 38900. Thus the Droid 3 is a better choice because it offers more than enough features for a nominal price increase.
