MTV Volt 1000 vs Canvas 2 A110: Can Micromax Phablet Stand Against The Swipe Monster?
After 5 inch phablets, it time now for the 6 inch phablet to twirl the trend. The first one to experiment with this monster size display was Huawei, when they announced the Ascend Mate, now the phablet is available in India at Rs 28,900. However, those who cant spend a fortune to buy a phablet, here comes Swipe MTV Volt 1000 at Rs 11,999.
The 6 inch Android phablet is a successor of the MTV Volt phablet launched earlier this year and may have to face a bitter competition from budget rivals like Micromax Canvas 2 A110, the 5 inch phablet which is selling like hot cakes in India at a price of Rs. 10,249.

Form Factor
MTV Volt 1000 scores high in this segment, as it features a 6-inch Capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels while the Micromax Canvas 2 A110 sports a 5 inch LCD display with a FWVGA screen resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.
Going by the screen size, of course, the dimensions and weight of Volt 1000 is higher at 88.6 x 158.5 x 11.3 mm and 186 grams. On the other end, Canvas 2 A110 is a more handy phone at 47 x 76.5 x 9.7 mm and 168 grams.
Processor, RAM and OS
MTV Volt 1000 is powered by a Mediatek (MTK 6577) 1GHz dual-core processor and has 1GB RAM and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. On the other hand, Micromax Canvas 2 A110 runs on a lower version of Android v4 Ice Cream Sandwich platform.
Both the handsets share a similar1 GHz dual core processor but Canvas 2 is backed by lesser RAM of 512 MB.
Camera
Both MTV Volt 1000 and Canvas 2 A110 sport an 8-megapixel rear camera with a flash. But, Volt 1000 has a 1.3-megapixel front facing shooter while the latter has 0.3MP front facing camera. At the same time, Micromax phablet has a dual LED flash.
Connectivity
The 6 inch MTV Volt 1000 phablet in terms of connectivity will support 3G, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and USB 2.0 connectivity options. On the other hand, Microm Canvas 2 A110 comes with GPRS, EDGE, 3G, WiFi, WAP, USB and Bluetooth. Hence, both the phablets have a similar connectivity options and have a dual SIM support.
Storage and Battery
MTV Volt 1000 and Micromax Canvas 2 A110, both will offer 4GB internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. MTV Volt 1000 is powered by powerful 2850 mAh battery while Canvas 2 A110 comes with a Li-Ion, 2000 mAh battery.
Price and Availability
MTV Volt 1000 phablet with a massive 6-inch display is priced for Rs 11,999 and the phablet will be available on Swipe's e-store as well as on various e-commerce portals. On the other hand, Micromax Canvas 2 A110 comes at a lower price of Rs. 10,249.
Conclusion
The latest Swipe MTV Volt 1000 has a better resolution display as compared to the Micromax Canvas 2 A110. Then, Micromax Canvas 2 A110 runs on an older version of Android and has a lesser storage capacity as user access memory is only 2GB. Thus MTV Volt 100 could be a better deal, although it costs Rs. 1,700 more than Canvas 2 A110.
Not only that, as part of the MTV branding, MTV Volt 1000 also has an inbuilt TV-player that offers on-the-go access to MTV and also features FM Radio with FM Transmitter.
