Acer better known for their PCs and laptop offerings hasn't quite made a mark in the smartphone industry. It won't be just to say that the company's isn't trying its best, but to simply put it none of their devices are drawing the buyers imaginations.
Nevertheless Acer is geared up to launch at least for Windows 10 smartphones at the IFA Berlin this year. The mega event is scheduled between 4th-9th September. The latest generation of Microsoft's OS was launched yesterday, but the date and time of the availability of the Windows 10 Mobile is still shrouded in mystery. Rumours indicate that the Mobile OS will release in September, thereby making the Acer smartphones to be launched at IFA, the first lot of devices to don the Windows 10 out of the box.
Acer is no new to Windows phone industry though, having released the Acer Liquid M220 back in March this year. The device features a 4 inch WVGA (800x480) LCD display along with a 1.2GHz Dual Core processor. The RAM was a meagre 512MB (according to Android standards). The camera department was led by a 5MP rear unit with a 2MP snapper on the front. The storage too was rather small at 4GB. Plus it had a 1300mah battery. Going by the specs one can easily understand that it was a low range device.
But the fact that remains to be seen is that whether these new devices Acer are planning to launch will be a belong to the same price bracket. The leak provided in a Twitter post of Roland Quandt (@rquandt) of WinFuture (a German website) doesn't have any mention of that.
Going by recent trends followed by Microsoft we feel that these devices will don the midrange and low range bracket. Recently Microsoft announced that the company will stop focusing on these price segments and rather put their effort solely on the Flagship segment. Microsoft is even tipped to launch two high end Windows 10 Mobile handsets rumoured the Lumia 950 and the 950XL around October this year.
