At IFA 2015 trade show, Alcatel has taken the wraps off two new smartphones under its all new series of products, called Pop. Under this Pop series, the company launched the Pop Up and the Pop Star smartphones in a variety of bright colors, with removable, interchangeable back panels, to attract younger lot of buyers. These phones have been placed in the affordable category, and hence pack in features suited to the price range.
Talking of the OneTouch Pop Star, the phone has been launched in two different versions, including a 3G compatible and a 4G variant. These two versions not only vary in terms of connectivity options but also bring different chipset and internal storage capacity on-board.
The Pop Star 3G features a 5-inch 720p display and is powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6580 chipset paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB of expandable storage inside.
The OneTouch Pop Star 4G, on the other hand, also flaunts a similar display, but gets a different chipset - a 1GHz quad-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6735P. The RAM remains at 1GB, but it features double the internal storage at 16GB, which can be expanded using a microSD card slot.
Both the phones sport 8-megapixel rear camera with 5-megapixel selfie camera up front, have 2000mAh battery, and run Android operating system.
The OneTouch Pop Up, is more powerful and brings better specs in comparison to the Pop Star. The phone has a 5-inch HD (720p) display, and is powered by an octa-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 610 chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM. You get a 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card. In the camera department, there is a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and flash, and while the front adorns a 5-megapixel camera to take care of selfies.
The Pop Up is available in Black, Riva Blue, Amber Orange, White, and Strawberry Red colour options.
In terms of connectivity, all the aforementioned phones support dual-SIMs, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
In terms of pricing and availability, the company has not given out any details yet.
