BlackBerry Priv receives its first OTA update containing monthly Security Patch
BlackBerry has now released the first software update for their recently launched Android smartphone the Priv which pushes some major improvements in camera and performance of the device.
As per the company statement the update improves the speed of the moving around in the camera app alongside tweaking some algorithms for an improved low light image quality via the 18MP rear camera. Additionally the update improves the overall system performance of the BlackBerry Priv Android Slider smartphone. The major changes include a number of adjustments to improve the device reliability and reduce sudden crashes and freezes.

Furthermore the update pack contains December's security patches that will protect the device from the latest Android security threats. Users who bought the BlackBerry Priv directly via ShopBlackBerry store can update their devices as early as today. However users who bought their phones via a carrier will need to wait until December 7.
In order to download the update you will be require to go to Settings > About > System Updates > Check for Updates and then choose to apply the update. The update package has a size of around 475MB.

BlackBerry has also announced that many of its pre-installed apps including the BlackBerry Keyboard, BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Camera and DTEK by BlackBerry will be updated via the Play Store on December 14.
