Apparently it seems Gionee is all set to launch a new budget Android device in the market. Dubbed the GN5001, the budget Gionee device was spotted at TENAA earlier today.
As expected from a Gionee device, the GN5001 pays impetus to the design aspect by sporting near minimum bezels. However, it may end up being a painted black bezel too - already many a Chinese companies are painting their bezels black to give a bezel less look!
Nevertheless the GN5001 sports an unknown MediaTek quad core SoC clocked at 1.3GHz each under the hood along with 1GB of RAM. So far it seems that the budget Gionee device will be using a MT6582 SoC under the hood.
The front of the device sports a 5 inch HD (1280x720) display along with three non-backlit capacitive buttons. There's however no mention of screen protection.
The optics of the GN5001 is handled by a 8MP Autofocus camera with a LED Flash and support for Full HD (1080p) videos. There's also a 5MP selfie snapper on the front which supports HD video recording. Gionee gets their camera spot on most of the times, and the GN5001 won't be an exception.
In terms of storage the device comes with 8GB of on-board storage along memory expansion via MicroSD card upto 128GB! Coming to connectivity the alleged device comes with support for TD-LTE and FDD-LTE along with the common set of WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. The devices measures at 8.6mm according to the TENAA listing.
Having passed TENAA today, the Gionee GN5001 can be expected to hit market in a few weeks in China. Gionee is also expected to bring this device to India rather soon.
