The Gionee GN9007 first made its appearance in China at TENAA certification early last month. Besides the specs and the model no of the upcoming device, not much was known. In fact the retail name of the device was not known.
But apparently it seems like Gionee is going to place it in their S series. The device will in fact be dubbed the Gionee S5.1 Pro. Despite being called the S5.1 Pro, the upcoming device doesn't share the design language with the existing S5.1 Pro. Nevertheless it seems like Gionee is aiming to rekindle its S5.1 range with this new handset.
According to the leaked specs via TENAA, the handset sports a 5-inch HD (1280x720) display which results in a pixel density of 294. Under the hood, is a MediaTek MT6753 octa core SoC with cores clocked at 1.5GHz each. This is coupled with a PowerVR G6200 GPU. Additionally it features a 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage - quite common specs for a mid-range device.
On the back is a 13MP Auto Focus camera and an 8MP front-facing snapper to take care of selfie needs. As the device sports a slim 6.45mm body, Gionee has bundled in a modest 2400mAh battery on the inside. The device is tipped to run on Android 5.1 with the Gionee Amigo3.1 UI on top.
As with most mid-range Gionee device out there the S5.1 Pro will feature 4G LTE connectivity. The handset is expected to be priced under $300 i.e. Rs 18,000 approx. No specific launch date is available as of now though.
