Gionee S6 with 5.5 inch AMOLED display, 3GB RAM and USB Type C port now official
Gionee has finally unveiled their new smartphone dubbed the S6. Sporting a metal unibody design the Gionee S6 measures at just 4mm at its thinnest point. Surprisingly the Chinese OEM has ditched its Elife branding for their new device.
The Gionee S6 sports a 5.5" HD (1280x720p) display which is similar to the one seen in the previously launched Elife S5.5. However Gionee has managed to give the device a comparatively smaller footprint. Under the hood of this primarily metal built device is a 1.3GHz Octa Core Mediatek 6753 SoC coupled with a Mali T720 GPU.

The 64 bit enabled mid-range SoC is complimented by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Furthermore there is room for memory expansion upto 128GB via MicroSD card slot. However it worth noting that the device comes with a Hybrid SIM Slot (1 Micro SIM + 1 Nano SIM/1 Micro SIM + MicroSD card). On the back of the Gionee S6 is a 13MP primary camera which further comes equipped with a LED Flash. The rear camera support video recording upto Full HD (1080p). There is also a 5MP front facing camera for shooting selfies.
Gionee is also rather proud of the USB Type C port that they have included onto their device. Sadly, the port uses USB 2.0 technology - just like the OnePlus 2. To power the octa core SoC the phablet comes equipped with a 3150mAH battery. The rest of the specifications include the standard set of connectivity features including Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and A-GPS. The device runs on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 with the company's own Amigo UI on top.
