It is a common practice for several websites to take a sneak peek at the APK version of the latest Google beta updates to analyze the codes and get to know what new changes and features these updates might bring about. However, it has to be noted that not all of them will make it to the final version of the update as the features in beta are under testing.

Google Assistant could get a hardware button

Likewise, a 9to5Google report has revealed that the latest version of the main Google app has revealed an interesting tip. Well, the APK teardown has revealed that the upcoming devices will get a physical Google Assistant button and many other small features those might be part of the eventual updates.

Of the many features spotted in the APK teardown, the major one that has caught our attention is the possibility to get a physical button in order to launch Google Assistant. As of now, the Pixel 2 has a squeeze function that can activate the assistant. Though the strings those were revealed in the APK teardown do not point out that it will be meant for the smartphones, there are possibilities for the upcoming devices to get this hardware.

It is likely that the smart speakers and other smart home devices might get the hardware button for Google Assistant. Hopefully, we can expect the future smartphones from Google to also come with this squeeze function as it could be convenient.

Besides the hardware button for Google Assistant, it looks like there will be many other smaller features too that will be rolled out in the future updates. Users can select a default speaker for their music and audio content and a default TV to play videos whenever they ask the Google Assistant to play media content for them.

It has also revealed that there will be four new notification channels including Assistant, Proactive, Miscellaneous, and Hands-off. The other new features revealed by the teardown are search widget customization, screenshot editor, a bottom bar without an Upcoming tab, and personalized recommendations based on the listening history.
