Reliance LYF, subsidiary of Reliance Retail manufactures 4G-enabled VoLTE smartphones named after the four elements: Earth, Flame (Fire), Water, and Wind.
Saying that, Reliance Retail launches two new smartphones under LYF series in India. Dubbed as Lyf Flame and Lyf Wind 4, both the smartphones support 4G with VoLTE. Coming in black and white colours, the Lyf Flame 2 carries a price tag of Rs. 4,799, while the Lyf Wind 4 comes in Black, Blue and Brown variant at a cost of Rs. 6,799.
What is VoLTE?
For the uninitiated, the term VoLTE stands for Voice over LTE. It provides high-quality voice, video and multimedia service to the users through 4G that will be superior to 3G or 2G connections. Putting it in simple terms VoLTE is an HD voice call and provides a much richer experience overall.
Spec sheet of Reliance Lyf Flame 2
Priced at Rs. 4,799, the Lyf Flame 2 sports a 4-inch WVGA IPS display with 840 x 480 pixels. It is powered by a Quad-core MediaTek MT6735M processor clocked at 1GHz along with Mali T720 GPU.
Coming at a budget price, the Flame 2 smartphone has 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM with expandable options up to 32GB via microSD card slot. Shipped with Android 5.1 Lollipop, this dual SIM device is backed by 5MP auto focus rear camera and 2MP front facing camera.

This device supports connectivity options such as 4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack and FM radio. The above hardware is juiced with a 1500mAh battery on board.

This device is somewhat the bigger variant of Fame 2 packing 5-inch HD IPS display, with quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor under the hood. Powered by 1GB RAM, this Lyf Wind 4 is shipped with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Further, the dual SIM device comes upgraded with 8MP auto focus rear camera with 2MP front camera.
Moreover, it supports connectivity options such as4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS. Also this device is powered by a huge 4000mAh battery on board.
How does VoLTE help regular customers?
Coming with VoLTE, the biggest advantage is the call quality, which will be superior to other 2G and 3G connections, as far more data can be transferred over. With this, users can transfer up to three times larger data than 3G and up to six times larger than 2G. Moroever, VoLTE connects the calls twice as fast as the current methods and also 2G and 3G connections will be available when there's no 4G.
