HTC has finally scheduled an event on April 12 where it is expected to unveil their flagship device for 2016. As you may be aware already, the flagship device for the Taiwanese company comes is being dubbed as the HTC 10. Incidentally, the 'M' branding appears to have been dropped by the branding.
Well, moving beyond the controversy regarding naming the teaser image shared by HTC indicates at three simultaneous launches across the globe on the same date - New York, London and Taipei. Apart from that the event will be lived streamed on htc.com, just like in the case of the HTC One A9. The use of #powerof10 further emphasizes that the HTC 10 will be the chief guest at the event.
Rumours, leaks and alleged press renders have already revealed much about the flagship device from HTC. While the HTC 10 may not be generating as much hype as was associated with something like the Samsung Galaxy S7, it's worth noting that the device from the one blooming Taiwanese makers still enjoys a fair share of fanfare.
Quad HD Super LCD display!
Coming to the specs, the HTC 10 is tipped to feature a 5.15-inch QHD (2560x1440p) Super LCD 5 display. Under the hood, the flagship device from HTC will pack the latest gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC and well it was kind off expected.
This will be clubbed with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. If rumours are to be believed the HTC 10 will come in three storage variants - 16GB, 32GB and 64GB - along with a room for memory expansion via MicroSD card slot.
Galaxy S7 like 12MP camera
In terms of cameras, the HTC 10 sports a 12.3MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash. The rear camera module is apparently backed by Sony IMX377 sensor, Laser Autofocus Sensor and Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS).
Some reports also claim that the device will feature a PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus Sensor), but it's quite amusing to believe that HTC will pack both Laser and PDAF sensors in a single camera module! Apart from that the front of HTC 10 is tipped to boast of a 5MP UltraPixel camera making use of Samsung S5K4E6 sensor with support for 1080p recording.
USB Type-C port
Other added features of the HTC 10 include the presence of the latest gen Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type C port, GPS with GLONASS, 4G LTE and a 3000mAH battery.
