Earlier reports claims that global manufacturing firms like Foxconn and Xiaomi are looking to establish its manufacturing plant in India. But, now it seems that Huawei might actually beat both.

Huawei Gets Security Clearance To Build And Sell Smartphones In India

According to Reuters, Huawei received the security clearance to manufacture telecoms equipment in India. Indian's Ministry of Home Affairs has cleared the Chinese firm to manufacture its devices locally.

With this security clearance, Huawei will be the first major Chinese manufacture to establish a base in India and sell handsets in the country. Although, the company already had R&D and manufacture unit in Tamil Nadu, but the handsets are not cleared for sale within India and are currently exported out of the country.

"India is an important overseas market for Huawei," "We aim to become a top three brand in India within three years," Reuters quoted Allen Wang, president of Huawei's consumer business group in India.

The Taiwanese tech group, Foxconn is popularly known for Apple iPhone, that assembles iPhone in China. The firm is also looking to open around 12 manufacturing plants in India by 2020 and is in talk to manufacture the iPhone in the country.
