Indian Phone Maker Micromax Among Top 10 Smartphone Brands Worldwide, Samsung And Apple Tops

Sales of smartphones to end users has reached 336 million units globally with an increase of 19.3 percent during the first quarter of 2015, according to the information technology research and advisory, Gartner.

With the strong sale of smartphones in the emerging markets, including Asia/Pacific, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa, has achieved a 40 percent increase in sale during the first half of this year.

The report claims that the Indian smartphone maker, Micromax has managed to find its place in the top 10 smartphone vendors globally during the first quarter 2015. Take a look at the slider below to know the the top 10 smartphone brands in the world.

The South Korean smartphone maker, Samsung has continued to hold the top position with 21.3 percent of market share by selling 97,986 thousand units in the first quarter of 2015.

Apple continued to exhibit a strong performance in the quarter, particularly in China. With the sale of 60,177 thousand units and holds second position with 13.1 percent of market share.

Microsoft

Microsoft holds the third position with 7.2 percent of market share by selling 33,002 thousand units in the first quarter of 2015.

LG

This year LG came up with few interesting smartphone. The company holds fourth place in the top smartphone vendors globally. LG holds 4.3 percent of market share and sold 19,637 thousand units of smartphone.

Lenovo

Lenovo managed to hold its place in the list of top smartphone vendors after acquiring Motorola. Lenovo holds the fifth position with 4.2 percent of market share.

Huawei

The China-based handset maker, Huawei holds is ranked sixth in the list with 4.0 percent of market share in the first quarter of 2015.

Xiaomi

Another Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi also managed to fit in the list of top smartphone brand at seventh position, with the market share of 3.2 percent.

The Chinese smartphone maker TCL, who is popularly known as Alcatel holds its position at eight, with a market share of 3.1 percent in the first quarter of 2015.

Another China-based smartphone vendor, ZTE, is at ranked ninth with 2.7 percent of market share by selling 12,600 thousand units.

Micromax is the only Indian smartphone vendor, which managed to hold its position in the top 10 smartphone makers in the world. The company holds 1.8 percent of market share with 8,158 thousand units of sale globally in the first quarter of 2015.
