There have been rumors of a 4 inch iPhone, ever since Apple continued to have Phones that were much larger. A look at the leaked China Mobile roadmap presentation slide suggested that the 4-inch Apple smartphone could release next year. It remains unclear what nomenclature Apple is using for the 4 inch iPhone. It is still unclear if Apple wants to call the 4 inch iPhone, the iPhone 6C or the iPhone 7C.
The phone was spotted by the My Drivers website, is part of the company's 2016 roadmap presentation, suggests that the rumored 4 inch 'iPhone 7c' model could launch in April. This confirms with earlier rumors which indicated at a mid-2016 launch for the 4 inch iPhone.
Apple is also planning an April event for the Apple Watch 2. This might coincide with the launch of the 4 inch iPhone. The 4 inch iPhone could be an iPhone 7c or the iPhone 6C. Previously KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the launch of a 4 inch iPhone is imminent.
Ming Chi Kuo has a who has a track record of accurately predicting Apple's moves. He also said that such a phone could enter into mass production in the first half of 2016. However, another conflicting report said that such a phone was slated for a January release instead of April.
The iPhone 6C is said to have several inner specs of the iPhone 5S including the Touch ID, an A9 SoC chipset, a better FaceTime HD camera with f/2.2 aperture. It will have standard connectivity options like 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 wireless standards.
However, the 4 inch iPhone is not a full-blown high-end iPhone and will have moderate specifications. It will not come with a 3D Touch display seen in the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus. The 4 inch iPhone is expected to be a "budget" iPhone meant for emerging markets or wherever it is sold.
