Lenovo will phase out Motorola branding in new overhaul

Lenovo purchased Motorola from Google in 2014. Since then, the company has released several Android Smartphones under the Moto brand name namely- Moto G, Moto E, Moto Turbo, Moto X, etc. Lenovo announced that it will be re-branding Motorola. While Motorola brand will not be killed off entirely, it would phased out. Motorola will be known as "Moto by Lenovo".

Lenovo will phase out Motorola branding in new overhaul

Motorola branding will not be seen on Moto Devices for a very long time. The news has been confirmed by Motorola COO Rick Osterloh. Osterloh spoke of the Moto rebranding to CNET's Roger Cheng. However, he said that the Moto Brand name will be used for high-end devices while the budget phones will be branded as Vibe.

The decision to phase out Motorola brand name came much earlier. However, it made more sense to continue with Moto and Motorola brand name as Motorola continues to be very popular in several markets around the world. While, Lenovo is known for its range of laptops.
