LeTv is the Chinese Media Streaming giant made a grand entry into the smartphone market by launching the first smartphone with a USB Type C port earlier this year. Now they are on a mission which seems rather impossible - a 6GB RAM smartphone!
According to reports coming from China, LeTv is working on their LeTv Le Max 2 smartphone with four 1.5GB units of Samsung made RAM channels on the inside. On the hindsight a 6GB RAM smartphone seems kinds of impossible, however you can't strike of the Chinese brands so early. Taiwanese firm Asus pulled of a miracle by launching the world's first 4GB RAM dubbed the Zenfone 2 at the CES earlier this year.
Under the hood of the 5.7 inch phablet, will be a Snapdragon 820 SoC. In fact a teaser images coming from official quarters had hinted that LeTv is indeed working on a device with the latest chip from Qualcomm. Further it is tipped that the 5.7 inch display will come with a 2K resolution.
Camera is another department where LeTv is planting a ‘bomb'. The LeTv Le Max 2 is tipped to sport an IMX300 sensor on the back with a 23MP f/2.0 aperture. It will support 4K recording at 24fps and autofocusing at a minimal interval of just 0.1 sec.
Despite, some top of the line specs, analysts at Gizbot aren't quite convinced with the leaks. Including 6GB RAM channel in a smartphone would unnecessarily bump up the pricing, and that something LeTv won't want.
Going by the specs, LeTv will need to price the device upwards of 4500 Yuan (Rs 45,000 approx.), hence entering into direct competitions with flagships of reputed brand like Samsung, LG, HTC etc. However in case LeTv pulls of this stunt, analysts at Gizbot will be left wondering with a simple question - do we need so much of RAM? Don't the average PCs come with "just" a 4GB of RAM?
Incidentally LeTv is planning to enter the Indian market by the beginning of next year with their trio of Le SuperPhones.
