LG V30 2018 version to feature AI camera, voice assistant and more
LG will introduce a new Voice AI that will work alongside Google Assistant.
LG is all set to unveil a new version of its flagship phone, the V30, at MWC 2018. Earlier this month, CY Kim, MD of LG Electronics South Africa, confirmed the news during a press meet. At that time though Kim neither revealed the name nor the specifications of the upcoming smartphone. With less than two weeks to go for MWC, the Korean company has now given us some idea of what to expect from the upgraded V30.
In line with recent rumors, LG has announced that the 2018 version of V30 will be featuring an AI-enabled camera. The company has developed something called "Vision AI" that makes the smartphone's camera smarter as well as easier to use. So how does Vision AI works? Well, it can automatically analyze the object that is being captured and can recommend the best shooting mode.
Camera
The camera has a total of eight modes like portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise and sunset. What's more, the camera has the capability of analyzing the object's angle and color, any reflection in the surroundings, as well as the lighting and saturation levels into account to capture the best image possible.
"For example, pointing the camera at a plate of pasta will result in food mode being invoked, resulting in warmer colors and heightened sharpening for the most appetizing shot possible," states the blog post.
Vision AI will help you shop
Vision AI can also provide shopping advice through smart image recognition. By simply pointing the camera at an object, LG's Vision AI can automatically scan QR codes, initiate an image search or provide shopping options including where to purchase the item for the lowest price and other similar products that the customer might find of interest.
Voice AI
Apart from the Vision AI, LG will also introduce a new Voice AI that will work alongside Google Assistant. It will come with new voice commands, most of which are connected to Vision AI, in addition to the 23 LG-exclusive Assistant commands. Users will be able to ask Voice AI to take a picture in panoramic mode, in food mode or in low-light mode.
