Micromax Canvas Knight 2 vs Xiaomi Mi 4i vs Samsung Galaxy E5: Battle of Mid-Range Smartphone

Micromax has recently released its first 4G enabled smartphone in India and has entered the mid-range smartphone war with the launch of Canvas Knight 2 with its rival Xiaomi and Samsung. However, the Canvas Knight 2 will face a tough competition with multiple rivals in the market. Have a look at two such competition Xiaomi Mi 4i and Samsung Galaxy E5.

Display

All three smartphones comes with a 5 inch touchscreen display, but with different technology and resolution. Micromax Canvas Knight 2 sports a HD AMOLED display at 720 x 1280 pixels resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The Xiaomi Mi 4i comes with a IPS LCD display at 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. While, the Samsung Galaxy E5 comes with a Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution along with multi-touch functionality.

The Canvas Knight 2 is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core processor by Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC paired with 2GB of DDR3 RAM. The Xiaomi Mi 4i powered by quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.1 GHz Cortex-A53 Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 SoC and Andreno 405 GPU paired with 2GB or RAM. While the Galaxy E5 is powered by Quad-core 1.2 GHz processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM

Canvas Knight 2 and Xiaomi Mi 4i runs on Android Lollipop operating system, while the Galaxy comes with Android KitKat OS out of the box.

Camera

The Micromax Canvas Knight 2 comes with a 13 megapixel auto-focus rear camera featuring a Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor and a Largon 5P lens. The smartphone comes with a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with an Omnivision OV5648 sensor with the same lens.

On the other hand, the Mi 4i also holds 13 megapixel rear camera featuring dual-LED flash, and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera. While, the Galaxy E5 sports a 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 5 megapixel selfie snapper.

Connectivity

All smartphones comes with standard connectivity options like Wi-Fi with hotspot functionaliy, GPS, Bluetooth, Micro-USB and FM radio. But Canvas Knight 2 and Xiaomi Mi 4i comes with 4G LTE connectivity.

Battery

The Canvas Knight 2 is packed with a 2260mAh battery, which the company claims to deliver up to 7 hours and 45 minutes of talk time, and 335 hours of standby time. The Xiaomi Mi 4i comes with 3120mAh battery that is claimed to provide battery life up to 35 hours on 3G. While, the Samsung Galaxy E5 is packed with a non-removable 2400 mAh battery.

Verdict

Well, Micromax Canvas Knight 2 and Xiaomi Mi 4i seems to be great contender, meanwhile the Samsung Galaxy E5 comes with a bit weak specs but the smartphone looks solid. However, all smartphone comes with somewhat similar features and pre-installed application and have their own strengths to attract the buyers. The Canvas Knight 2 camera with Sony's CMOS sensor makes a better option, while the Xiaomi Mi 4i has its popular MIUI interface that is unmatchable with other smartphone.
