Microsoft is supposed to launch two new Windows phone dubbed the 950 and 950XL at the event scheduled on 6th of October in US. But it seem that the flagship duo won't be alone at the event. Rather the devices will be accompanied by a few mid ranges - and the recently leaked Lumia 550 is among them.
The upcoming mid-ranger was spotted on a Swiss store for a price of CHF 114 which translates to roughly Rs 7,371 ($117). Lumia 550 is in fact on its way to become the first 500 series device to come with 4G LTE connectivity support. As expected from its 500 series inheritance the Lumia 550 doesn't pack any interesting specs under the hood. But it definitely has enough to make it a credible mid-range Windows 10 Mobile device.
In case you were following the Windows phone market scenario closely then you may be aware of the fact that Microsoft was seen importing a few units of a 4.7 inch Windows Phone codenamed RM-1127 in India for testing performance. The Zauba listing had mentioned a price of Rs 9,155. Apparently it seems that the Lumia 550 is the same device!
According to the listing by the Swiss store the Lumia 550 comes with a 4.7 inch HD (1280x720) display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad core 210 SoC under the hood. The chip uses four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.1GHz coupled with Adreno 305 GPU. It further adds that the device runs on the latest Windows 10 Mobile.
On the other hand a previous listing of the alleged device on GeekBench hinted at a 5MP camera with HD recording and a 5MP front snapper. The selfie camera too is capable of shooting HD videos. The GeekBench listing had surprisingly mentioned only 512MB of RAM. This we believe might actually be 1GB.
Let's wait till the event to find out more info regarding the device. We may also see another low range Windows Phone dubbed the RM-1128 accompany the device.
