In just about few hours from now, Motorola will launch the Moto X Play smartphone in India. The company, which is now owned by Lenovo, is hosting a launch event on 14 September, in Delhi, where in it will be announcing the India price details related to the Moto X Play, which was announced globally last month.

The X Play is a Motorola's new generation model in its ‘X' series of smartphones, and was announced along with the Moto X Style. The Moto X Play is the company's phablet offering that has been placed in the mid-range segment, to take on the bigger-display smartphones from rival OEMs, including top players or domestic vendors.

Like all the previously launched Motorola smartphones in India, the newbie will be retailing exclusively on Flipkart, starting today afternoon around 2:00PM.

The Moto X Play is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 Octa-core chipset, which is supported by the company's own Motorola Mobile Computing System, which takes the core-count to 10. It essentially includes two separate processors, one of which takes care of contextual computing that works with motion sensors, while the other is natural language chipset that takes care of the gesture controls or 'Touchless Control' on the Moto X Play.

The chipset is paired with Adreno 405 GPU, and gets support from 2GB of RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage. Though, it is uncertain whether Motorola will bring both the variants to India.
