The market is filled with rumours regarding the Moto G (2015)! And finally here's an official confirmation from the Lenovo owned Motorola, regarding a new product/s launch on the 28th July. The launch will take place in multiple destinations namely New Delhi, Sao Paolo and New York.

Going by the time on the invitation card that Motorola has sent out, it seems that India would be the first country to get. Next up will be Sao Paolo at 5.30 IST followed by New York and London at 6.30 IST. But is Moto G the only device that's going to launch on the specified date? And if so what can we expect? Let's find that out below!

Here a list of features we can expect from the Moto G (2015) aka the Moto G3:

A new back panel: The front will be same as the previous generation with the two speakers on both sides of the display. The back now gets an update though. There's a long strip, reminiscent of the LG G4/Asus Zenfone two. Apparently it looks like a strip of metal with a ditch below featuring the Motorola logo. But PC Advisor speculates that the metal strip may come with a power button feature.

Mild change in the SoC: The device will come with 64 bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 with Adreno 306 GPU. It's not a major upgrade by any means, since the Moto G2 packed a Snapdragon 400. Rather most will be disappointed to hear this. Plus do note that this will place the device in the same tier of Moto E 4G in terms of performance (it also comes with SD410)

Bumped up RAM: The Moto G3 is tipped to feature 2GB of RAM which is a much awaited increase!

Two storage editions: There's also a word that the Moto G will come in two storage options this year -8GB and 16GB respectively.

Better Optics: The leaks also suggest at a 13MP camera with a dual LED flash. That's a great change from the rather dated 8MP unit seen in the last gen (came with a single LED Flash).

The front would have a 2MP/5MP front snapper.

Newer OS: The device just like any Moto device will run the latest OS i.e. Android Lollipop 5.1 out of the box. The 2nd gen when released came with Kitkat (4.4.4).

Rest will mostly be the same. The 5 inch HD (1280x720p) display, 4G LTE support will be carried over from the last generation.

We feel that this device will be lighter than the previous generation though which weighed approx. 150g. There are some leaks that hint at an IP certification for waterproofing. But personally I feel that would be a far stretched story. Our guess is that Motorola will price the device under Rs 14,000 ($222) - as pricing it higher will lead to a not-so-great market response.

Do note that the Moto G is not the only device to launch during the event. We are expecting Motorola to bring their all new Moto 360 (2nd gen) smartwatch along. Leaks so far hints at the below mentioned specifications:

  • 1.56" display with a resolution of 360x360p
  • 1.2 GHz Snapdragon Qualcomm 400 SoC with Adreno 305 GPU.
  • 512MB RAM and 4GB of on board storage.
  • Sensors include Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Barometer and the much talked about Heart Rate sensor.
  • Wifi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.1 would also be there as connectivity options.
  • 400 mah battery (quite healthy for a smartwatch)

Specifications are impressive as of yet. Samsung is also planning to launch their Gear A smartwatch on Aug 12th. So we are excited to see how they weigh up against each other. Hope Moto prices the smartwatch competitively.

Rumours of a Moto X launch is also in the air. But we would love to discard those as of now!
