The next generation Nexus smartphones are not much of a secret anymore. Several leaks and conjecture have already suggested that Google is working on launching two new Nexus smartphones this year, which will include a remake of the LG's Nexus 5 smartphone that was launched in 2013, and a brand new Nexus from Huawei's kitty. Now, a few fresh reports have surfaced to reveal the upcoming Nexus smartphones' specifications as well as launch details.
We have a fair idea of how the new Nexus devices will look like, thanks to the numerous photo leaks. Now, fresh photo leaks show off front as well as rear panel of the 5.2-inch LG Nexus (2015 Edition). As seen in the render leaked by @onleaks, the updated LG Nexus 5 will come with a protruding camera with an LED flash along with what could be infra-red light. There also is a ring shaped fingerprint scanner placed right below the camera.
The other set of photos shows off the front panels of an unannounced Nexus smartphone, though it is not clear whether this device in the image is the LG Nexus 5 (2015 Edition) or Huawei Nexus 6. As seen in the photo, the front panel on the upcoming Nexus smartphone looks pretty similar to the Motorola-made Nexus 6. Noticeably, the new Nexus phone features a dual speaker grille up front and a selfie snapper, which have been placed similar to the original Nexus 5.
As far as the specifications are concerned, rumors have it that the Google Nexus 5 smartphone will feature a 5.2-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display with a pixel density of 565PPI. It is expected to run a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset, which is the same chipset that powers LG's current flagship, the G4. The chipset will be paired with Adreno 418 GPU and 3GB of RAM. For the camera enthusiasts, the phone will feature a 130-megapixel rear camera with an advanced Sony IMX278 sensor, and OIS (optical image stabilization).
The Huawei-branded Nexus, on the other hand, will have a 5.7-inch screen of QHD resolution. The Huawei Nexus will be powered by either a Snapdragon 810 or Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB of RAM. Both the phones will also tout USB Type-C port.
According to another report, the Nexus 5 (2015) will be launching on Play Store on September 29. Though the report comes from the Korean media which previously revealed the launch details of the Nexus 5 (2013) two years back, this one is yet not confirmed and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
