Obi Worldphone SF1 to launch in India later this November
Obi Mobiles is all set to launch their new Worldphone SF1 in India later this month. The Obi Worldphone SF1 was released back in August alongside the Worldphone SJ1.5 in San Francisco. Apparently the ex-Apple CEO, John Sculley backed Obi Mobiles also rechristened itself as the Obi Worldphone in the same event.
As per reports Obi will be launching their Obi Worldphone SF1 in India later this November while the Worldphone SJ1.5 is reserved for release possibly at a later date. Obi claims to have partnered with reputed vendors likes Qualcomm, JDI, Dolby, Sony, Corning Incorporated and Google among others for their Worldphone SF1.

The Obi Worldphone is designed by San Francisco based Product Studio, Ammunition. And no wonder it looks great. The Obi Worldphone SF1 sports a Fiberglass body and metal accents to the top and the bottom of the smartphone. Furthermore the Obi SF1 comes with a protruding 5 inch Full HD (1920x1080p) display sourced from JDI which is covered by the latest Gorilla Glass 4. According to the company the protruding design gives the display a 'floating' feel, thereby enhancing media consumption experience.
The design centric Obi SF1 smartphone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC under the hood alongside 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of onboard storage - depending on the exact variant. There is a slot for memory expansion via MicroSD card slot. The Dual SIM handset (Micro + Nano SIM) comes with a 13MP f/2.0 Sony IMX214 rear camera which is equipped with a LED Flash. On the front is a 5MP front facing camera which can shoot some decent selfies.
Obi SF1 further comes with a Dolby Audio, non-removable 3000mAh battery and 4G LTE support. Other specifications include the regular set of connectivity features including Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi b/g/n and A-GPS. The smartphone runs on the company's own Obi OS which runs on top of Android Lollipop 5.1.
"We are here to redefine smartphone experience in markets witnessing high smartphone growth rates. Here, the consumers value not only the latest technical specs but also the superior quality and design. In addition, we have access to best distribution and retail partnerships in our target markets, which facilitate our aggressive expansion plans. We plan to launch Obi Worldphone in India within this month and are committed to work relentlessly to enthrall consumers with our innovations in design, state-of-the-art technology and high standards for manufacturing to deliver inspiring products that overturn the general assumption that great design has to come at a high price," said Neeraj Chauhan, Co-Founder & CEO of Obi Worldphone.
