During its launch of the ‘Flagship killer for 2016' aka. the OnePlus 2, the Chinese company given hints regarding the launch of yet another device at the end of this year.
Later the OnePlus CEO, Carl Pei officially confirmed that the company was indeed working on a new model that aims to target an entirely different set of buyer. However he didn't give out any conclusive details about the device other than the December launch (before Christmas).
A new report though gives a few additional details about the upcoming device. In an exclusive interview to the Economic Times, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India stated that the new device from the company would sit in a mid-range segment of the market. Hence we can expect the alleged device to come with a price tag of Rs 12,000 - Rs 20,000. However analyst at Gizbot believe that OnePlus would be pricing this device under the Rs 18K range.
Talking of the device, he added that the alleged device will be targeting the fashionable youth segment of the market. He stated that it would be more of fashionable trendy device, rather than being a powerhouse. OnePlus will be launching this device at the end of this year in India along with their other markets.
Vikas Agarwal stated that India is one of the important market for the company. Apparently since its entry into the country, India has played a big part in the company's sale no. The alleged device from OnePlus was leaked a few days back via Antutu sporting a Helio X10 Mediatek SoC. Dubbed the OnePlus Mini, the press renders of the device also hint at a dual rear camera setup.
OnePlus is also reportedly working to set up their own site from where to plan to sell devices in the country. This strategy of OnePlus is similar to the one followed by Xiaomi who sells its accessories exclusively through Mi.com. The company infact plans to start selling via its website from next year onwards.
With a mid-range device in tow, OnePlus really need to stock up its inventory if they plan to hit the market hard. As with any sub 18K device, the demand will be at its peak, and OnePlus will be heavily decried off if they plan to sell this one too via their Invite Only system!
