Remember the Pepsi phone which got leaked earlier? Yes, Cola Company today has indeed launched a new smartphone dubbed the Pepsi Phone P1S. The device has been launched in China and is manufactured by Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment Co. Ltd.
As reported earlier Pepsi is simply rebranding a smartphone made by a Chinese OEM. Nevertheless the Pepsi P1s coms with a metal unibody design which looks rather similar to the images that got leaked in the first place.
In terms of specs the Pepsi P1s sports a 5.5 inch Full HD (1920x1080p) 2.5D Curved Display upfront. The Pepsi smartphone is powered by a 1.7GHz Octa Core MediaTek 6592 SoC and a Mali 450 MP4 GPU. This is coupled with a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage.
The Pepsi P1s sports a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera on the back which comes equipped with a LED Flash. As per the company statement the rear camera is using the FotoNation latest imaging technology which was also found in the Huawei P8 and P8 Max. Below the rear camera is the square shaped Fingerprint Sensor and Pepsi branding. Pepsi claims that the Fingerprint Sensor can unlock the smartphone in just 0.5s. Moreover the 13MP rear camera is complimented by a 5MP front facing unit which is capable of shooting HD (720p) footage.
Furthermore the smartphone packs a large 3000mAh battery despite measuring at 152.2x76.2x7.7mm. The Pepsi P1s weighs up at 158gm thanks to its metal built. Other specifications include the WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and 4G LTE support. The device runs on dido OS 6.1 on top of Android Lollipop 5.1. The P1s also come with Hybrid Dual SIM slot (Micro SIM + MicroSD card).
The Pepsi P1s comes in Blue, Gold and Silver colours and is available for orders via a crowd funding campaign on JD.com. Pepsi had been offering an early bird offer at just 499 Yuan (Rs 5,175 approx.), however that seems to be sold out already.
