Qualcomm had been very tight lipped about the Snapdragon 820. Since early March the company has been hinting at the possible features of the Snapdragon 820 processor. This time we are close to seeing the Snapdragon 820 being part of devices that are shipped. This too will take time until the Snapdragon 820 will be part of devices that are shipped only in 2016.

The Snapdragon 820, marks Qualcomm's return to custom-designed CPU cores something that it practiced in the past and chose to return to now. The Snapdragon 820 uses ARM designs.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 will be shipped with phones in 2016

The Snapdragon 820 has a quad-core CPU with 64-bit Kryo cores, which can be clocked at up to 2.2 GHz. The CPU is expected to perform much faster than the Snapdragon 810. It is an achievement that the Snapdragon 820 will perform faster than its predecessor. Thanks to the new Hexagon 680 DSP, the S820 will have a better battery life compared to its predecessor.

The Snapdragon 820 uses the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The Snapdragon 820 chipset will show a improvement in performance, graphics, computation as well as power usage in comparison to its predecessor.
