Amid LYF Phone Explosion, Reliance Launches LYF F8 Smartphone with 4G VoLTE

Reliance LYF F8 has been launched with 4G VoLTE support while the LYF phone explosion is under investigation.

Reliance's LYF smartphone brand is in the headlines today as one of the smartphones launched under the lineup exploded and caught fire.

A Twitter user posted three photos of his Reliance LYF smartphone and claimed that the device exploded and burst into flames while he was using it. The company issued a statement regarding the same. In this statement, Reliance stated that it will investigate the matter.

The LYF F8 boasts a 4.5-inch FWVGA display along with Asahi glass protection. Its hardware includes a quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor ticking at 1.3 GHz clock speed, Adreno 304 graphics unit, and 1 GB of RAM. The device features 8 GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded further up to 128 GB.

The Reliance LYF F8 is bestowed with an 8 MP main snapper at its back along with autofocus and LED flash. Also, there is a 5 MP front-facer to click selfies. There are camera features such as smile detection, blink detection, gaze detection, panorama, and video HDR support.

The latest offering from Reliance is fueled by a 2,000 mAh battery that is claimed to juice up the device rendering 8 hours of talk time, 28 hours of audio playback, 5 hours of HD video playback, and 160 hours of standby time. The LYF 8 phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS and supports 4G VoLTE connectivity. It also has USB OTG support.
