After a few leaks, the two smartphones that are designed for Rio 2016 have been unveiled officially by the South Korean tech giant. The Olympic Games variants of the flagships are themed on the Olympic logo's five interlocking rings.
These rings are positioned in two places on these phones - one on the lower back side and one on the upper front side. The colors of the Olympic Rings will also be prominent in the phone's user interface such as the home screen, lock screen, the messages, dialer, and contact screens and notification bar.
The highlight is that the colors of the rings on the hardware are used as the main theme colors on the software front. Moreover, these Olympic Edition smartphones come preloaded with wallpapers and apps of Rio 2016.
Samsung has announced that the US Olympians will get a Galaxy S7 or S7 edge Olypmics Edition and a pair of Gear IconX headphones this time. The Rio themed handsets will start selling over there from July 18.
Except for the changes in the design and looks, the other aspects of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are the same. In terms of specs, these Olympic Editions are identical to those of the original devices launched earlier this year.
