Sony unveiled its flagship smartphone lineup: Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium - the world's first 4K resolution display smartphone and a Xperia Z5 Compact. Sony announced three flagship lineup at its press event on September 2 at IFA 2015 in Berlin.
All three smartphones are designed by leading creatives at Sony's Creative Center studios in Sweden and Japan. The Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 compact, both smartphones flaunts the company's OmniBalance design and have similar design form, with a metal frame and glass front and back. Both smartphones are IP65/68 rating making it waterproof.
The Xperia Z5 has a bigger size compared to the Xperia Z5 Compact, measuring 146 x 72 x 7.3mm and the Xperia Z5 Compact measures 127 x 65 x 8.9mm. The Compact model has a seamless finish and round design around the edges, while the Xperia Z5 has strong corners.
The Xperia Z5 comes with a 5.2 inch display at 1920x1080 pixels resolution with 428ppi pixel density. While, the Z5 Compact has a smaller display measuring 4.6 inch 1280x720 pixel resolution, at a 323ppi. Both smartphones display use the same LCD IPS display technology and comes with Sony's X-Reality technology.

Both smartphones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, but there is difference in RAM. The Xperia Z5 comes with 3GB of RAM, while the Compact model is paired with 2GB of RAM. The Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.
The Xperia Z3 Compact comes with 16GB of internal storage, while the Xperia Z5 holds 32GB of internal storage and both smartphones come with an option to expand memory using a microSD card.
The Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Compact both flaunts a same 23 megapixel primary camera, offering a Hybrid auto-focus, that can focus in less than a second and comes with improved optical image stabilization system. Both smartphones are capable of capturing in 4K resolution. There is also a 5 megapixel front-facing camera.
The big new feature added to these smartphone is the fingerprint scanner, as many flagship smartphone are expected this must-have features. Well the interesting things is the fingerprint scanner is integrated on the right side of the device in the power button.
The Sony Xperia Z5 is packed with 2900mAh battery while the Xperia Z5 Compact comes with 2700mAh battery. Both smartphones have Battery STAMINA mode and the company claims that both smartphones can juice up the device up to two days of battery life.
