Xiaomi seems to have more in the offering other than the Mi5. A few months back various leaks around the Mi5 shrouded the market. The rumour mills also indicated at a 5.7 inch Mi5 Plus too. The leaks though seems far from believable.
With the Mi Note already available with a 5.7 inch display, it would have been an insane move in the part of Xiaomi to launch a larger variant of the Mi5. The impact of the launch would be have cannibalized the sales of the Mi Note!
However a new set of press renders make us believe that the previous leak was partially correct. While it's true that a 5.7 inch device with a Qualcomm 820 is indeed in works, its now decidedly clear that it won't be called the Mi5 Plus at least. The rumour mill hint that the alleged device is a 2nd iteration of the premium phablet offering from Xiaomi, dubbed the Mi Note 2.
The renders show a large 5.7 inch device with a narrow bezels and a dual front camera setup. From the images its hard to ascertain whether both the black dots beside the in line speaker grill are front camera. There's a slight possibility that one of them might be a Proximity sensor. Nevertheless the fact that the Mi Note 2 is rumoured to come with a 12MP camera makes us believe that it might indeed be a dual camera setup.
On the back is said to feature a 23MP Sony camera with dual LED flash and 4K video recording. While the 23MP camera sounded a little out of place a few weeks back, it now seems like good to be true. The first 23MP camera debuted a few weeks back at the IFA on the Sony Z5 Premium. Hence it won't be surprising to see Xiaomi use it in their device.
The press images further shows a Rectangular Home cum Fingerprint Button. In terms of specs the Mi Note 2 is said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC with Adreno 530 GPU. The 5.7 inch display on the other hand would use a QHD (2560x1440) LTPS OGS display. Considering the fact that the device uses a SD820, analyst at GizBot doesn't expect it to be launched before the beginning of next year.
