Xiaomi's much talked about and rumored flagship Mi5, and Mi5 Plus seem to be finally being unveiled on July 16. The company has confirmed to host an event on the said date in a teaser invite on Weibo.
Xiaomi has put up an image that show a smartphone's side shot, with 'PK' written in the background. The phone is the poster looks pretty thin, confirming the launch of a sleek smartphone at the event, which is likely to be the Mi5.
Going by the company's back records, the launch of Mi 5 around this time seems likely considering that Xiaomi Mi 4 was also launched in the same month last year.
As for specs of the phones, rumors so far have suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 5 would feature a 5.2-inch QHD LCD display with 1440x2560 pixels resolution, protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Other rumored features include a Snapdragon 810 processor, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 13-megapixel front camera, and a 3000mAh battery. The phone is also likely to flaunt a fingerprint scanner. Of the rumors turn true, the phone would be priced at CNY 2,399 (approximately Rs. 24,500).
The Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus, on the other hand, is expected to don a 5.7-inch QHD display with 1440x2560 pixels resolution and be powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset. It might as well come with a whopping 23-megapixel rear camera with OIS and laser autofocus, and a 12-megapixel front camera, and run on a 3500mAh battery
At the moment, there is nothing confirmed about which device will get launched at the event.
